Who are we?

Meet our presenters

Shaun Whitty

Shaun Whitty

I'm Shaun, the Donny Lad from South Yorkshire. My love for entertainment started back in when I was just 7 yrs old, I sang a hymn in front of the whole school and received 5p from one of the teachers. (How I remember that I'll never know). Fast forward 25 yrs I joined The Amateur Operatic Theatre Company (Now The Phoenix Theatre Company, whose members included Sheridan Smith & Thomas Howes of Downton Abbey). I took a year out to have a season in Butlins (Skegness) on the Entertainment team, then returned for 25 years performing with the Pheonix Theatre Company at the 500 seat Civic Theatre, then later at the 600 seater The Cast. I was also an Entertainment Manager for 10 years booking bands for a venue in Doncaster.

I moved to Mablethorpe in 2023 and wanted to be part of the Community so I joined our amazing team here at Coastal Dream Radio. My show is "Shaun Whitty's Back in the Day Top40" on Sundays 3 till 5, so join me for some Classic tunes.

I’m a true Cockney from the East End of London, which gave me a great upbringing in music and the chance to see some amazing live bands during the ’70s. In fact, my local pub had Status Quo playing regular gigs for free! I’ve always loved music starting out as a rock fan in my early years but over time I’ve mellowed and now enjoy most types of music.

My radio journey started almost by accident. A dinner visit to a friend turned into my first live show, and from that moment I was hooked. I began broadcasting three shows a week from my home studio. Back then my radio name was Rocking Ricky, but when another DJ with a similar name came along, I became Tricky Ricky! I am on in the afternoons, on Monday, Tuesday and Friday.

I come from a very musical family, the only girl out of 6, 4 of which were military musicians but all of us cut our teeth in the brass banding world. It was a natural progression that I met my husband who was also a serving military musician. Music runs in my blood. I have an eclectic taste and passion ranging from classical to modern day. My favourite…as many people already know are the fabulous Eagles but music in general fills my world. I began broadcasting after a throw away comment with the inimitable Chris Tucker who took a wild chance on me….and here I am! Lady Catherine was born.

Music is my passion. I have been a professional singer for over 40 years. I studied music (performance/studio recording and live sound), I have performed live all over Europe, been interviewed many times and had several TV appearances. I came to Catalonia and believe I became the first English-language radio presenter on Radio Mora FM and la Cala RTV, and produced radio for the federation of radio stations in Catalonia. I also founded TopCat Radio, an English language station based in Catalonia.

I host the "Rollin' Back the Years" show on Sundays, starting at 13:00.
